Confidentiality & Proprietary Data

Here at Novi, we completely understand your concern for protecting your formulas as it’s your proprietary data. Novi provides ingredient statuses based on INCI data alone, so you do not need to reveal any confidential information. However, for certain policies (ex. Credo) there are specific restrictions for a subset of ingredients.

There is no need to share proprietary data for ingredients that definitively meet or don't meet the policy at the INCI level, but we'll need to know that information in order to clear up restrictions (e.g. to know if Glycerin is animal-derived we'll need to know which Glycerin you're using).

Security is our top priority and no data that you share with Novi will be shared outside of Novi unless you specifically request for us to do so (e.g. for us to share information with a retailer like Credo on your behalf).

Terms of Service

All of our accounts are governed by our Terms of Service. We would never share your proprietary information, but if it makes you more comfortable, you're absolutely able to use our product without sharing confidential information. Our free accounts cover assessments at the INCI level and if you're willing to provide the trade material documents for any restricted ingredients (e.g. Glycerin which must be derived from vegetables not animals in order to meet Credo's policy) we're able to clear up those restrictions at no cost to you. However, there is no requirement to do so. And there is generally no need to provide percent in formula except for the rare cases of specific restrictions (e.g. Phenoxyethanol at 1% or less).
