There are two ways to go through the attestation process. Use the first method if submitting most of your SKUs to Conscious Beauty. If you’ll only submit a few SKUs, please scroll for a different workflow that may better fit your needs.
To get Conscious Beauty verified, you’ll go through an attestation process for Conscious Beauty’s pillar(s). The purpose is to confirm you meet and stand behind your product claims.
As a reminder, certification for the Cruelty-Free, Sustainable Packaging, and Give-Back pillars happens at the brand level. For you to receive the badge, 100% of your SKUs must meet the criteria for a given pillar.
For the Clean Ingredients and Vegan pillars, certification can happen at either the brand or SKU level. 100% of your SKUs must meet the criteria for a given pillar for you to receive the badge. For SKU-level certification, just the SKU must comply.

If you’ll only submit a few SKUs, please scroll for a different workflow that may better fit your needs. Note that the second method has a few other benefits. It allows you to:
- Submit best to the Clean Ingredients and Vegan pillars, as those require taking action for individual SKUs
- Find and target specific SKUs that you’d like to enroll in SKU-level pillars (ie Clean Ingredients and Vegan) by clicking “Review” on individual SKUs
- View at a glance which SKUs qualify for which pillars
- See a summary of your SKUs’ status across all five pillars
- See which SKUs still need action and why
If you’ll be submitting the majority of your SKUs to Conscious Beauty:

In the left-hand navigation bar, click “Pillars”. The five Conscious Beauty pillars will pop up.

Choose a Pillar you’d like to attest for and click “Review.” A summary of how your SKUs stack up against the given pillar will appear. Click “Review again.”
- You will see information pop up showing you in-depth info about how your SKUs stack up against the pillar requirements. Any items that say “Does not meet” indicate your SKU does not meet the requirements for the pillar. For any items that say “Meets,” no action is needed. For any items that say “Needs attention,” click “Attest for SKUs."
- In the list that pops up, click “Attest.”
- In the window that pops up, click fill out all requested fields and click “Attest.”
- Repeat this process for all items that require attestation. Once all attestations for all SKUs you’d like to enroll are complete, your can see whether your SKU meets all the requirements in the “Eligibility” tab (see below for instructions). You will see whether any other steps are needed to get enrolled. Please make sure to complete your other required actions — signing Ulta Beauty’s pillar agreements and completing payment to Novi — to ensure you get badged.
If you’d like to use the second method described above, here’s how to do that:
- In the left-hand toolbar, click “Eligibility.” A list of your SKUs will pop up showing their status across all five Conscious Beauty pillars. If your SKU meets a certain pillar, you’ll see “Meets” and no action is necessary. If it does not, you’ll see “Does not meet.” Any SKUs that require you to submit further information to determine eligibility will say “Needs attention."
- If you’d like to qualify for a certain pillar (for example, the vegan pillar) but the status says “Needs attention,” click “Review” to see what information is needed.
- You’ll see a list of the SKU’s ingredients pop up. Click the “Needs Attention” tab to filter for which ingredients require additional information through attestation.
- Click “Attest.” In the window that pops up, fill out the requested information and click the “Attest” button. Repeat for all ingredients that require attestation. Please allow a few minutes for your attestations to process, then check back for your updated SKU status on the Eligibility page. Once you’ve attested for all SKUs you’d like to submit, your SKUs have been submitted. Please make sure to complete your other required actions — signing Ulta Beauty’s pillar agreements and completing payment to Novi — to ensure you get badged.
